The name is meshed with details and shadows. Depaj is Arabic for silk and silk has its connotations. Women wear it because it’s the softest, finest and most durable of fabrics. And because it is forbidden for them to wear it in peace; men wear it in war to break the will of the enemy. In Depaj’s masterpieces you find the silkiness of creativity and the superiority of craftsmanship. Our vision for our work stems from our inherited passion and fixation on excavating the ancient arts and forms of mastership. Our work draws its value from our ability to innovate while respecting our traditions.
For more than 200 years, the Bahraini Al-Sayegh family has mastered crafting swords and daggers for the ruling dynasties in Bahrain and the Gulf. The most famous of these swords are Saif Nasseef currently owned by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain and Saif Al-Ajrab which is a famous sword of Imam Turki bin Abdullah Al Saud, the founder of the second Saudi state (1822 – 1833).
